Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what we collect, why we process it and how we protect it in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We do not sell your data — not now, not ever.
1. Who we are
The responsible party for your personal information is Jabula Bets (Pty) Ltd (“Jabula Bets”, “we”, “us”), registered in the Republic of South Africa and licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Our Information Officer handles all privacy-related requests and can be reached via the Support page. Please include “Privacy Request” in the subject line.
2. Data we collect
We collect personal information in the following categories:
- Identity data — full name, South African ID or passport number, date of birth, selfie or ID photograph (for FICA verification).
- Contact data — email address, mobile phone number, residential address.
- Financial data — tokenised card references, bank account details used for deposits and withdrawals, transaction history. We do not store full card numbers; payment processing is handled by licensed PCI-DSS-compliant payment providers.
- Activity data — login timestamps, bet history, game sessions, bonus usage, responsible gambling settings and customer support interactions.
- Device and technical data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and approximate geolocation (country and city level) derived from your IP. We use this to detect fraud and confirm you are accessing from South Africa.
- Communication data — records of live chats, emails and calls with our support team. Calls may be recorded for training and quality assurance.
3. Why we process your data
We process personal information only for specific, lawful purposes:
- Contract performance — to create and manage your account, process deposits and withdrawals, settle bets and pay winnings.
- Legal obligation — age verification under the National Gambling Act, FICA compliance (Financial Intelligence Centre Act), tax reporting obligations and anti-money-laundering (AML) screening.
- Legitimate interest — fraud detection, security monitoring, responsible gambling pattern analysis and system integrity checks.
- Consent — personalised marketing emails and push notifications. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
We do not process special categories of personal information (health data, biometric data beyond account security) without your explicit consent.
4. Cookies and tracking
We use three categories of cookies on jabulabets.us.com:
- Essential cookies — required for the site to function (session management, login state, security tokens). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how players navigate the site so we can improve it. We use aggregated, anonymised data only.
- Marketing cookies — measure the performance of our advertising campaigns. You can disable these in your browser settings or via a cookie preference tool at the bottom of the site.
5. Who we share data with
We share your personal information only with parties that need it to provide a service to you or to us, and only under strict data processing agreements:
- Licensed payment processors and banks (for deposits and withdrawals).
- KYC and AML screening vendors (for FICA compliance).
- Cloud hosting providers based in South Africa and the European Union.
- South African gambling authorities when required by our licence or by law.
- Fraud prevention and cybersecurity services.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal data with advertisers, data brokers or any third party for commercial purposes.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers operate servers in the European Union. All transfers outside South Africa are made only to countries or organisations that offer adequate privacy protection equivalent to POPIA, or under standard contractual clauses. No data is transferred to jurisdictions without adequate protection.
7. How long we keep data
Account and transaction records are retained for a minimum of five years from the date of the last activity on the account, as required by the Financial Intelligence Centre Act and our gambling licence conditions. After the retention period expires, personal data is either deleted or irreversibly anonymised. Support chat logs are retained for two years.
8. Your rights under POPIA
As a South African data subject you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to deletion — request deletion of data we are not legally required to retain.
- Right to object — opt out of direct marketing at any time.
- Right to lodge a complaint — submit a complaint to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the Support page with your full name and registered email address. We respond within 30 days as required by POPIA.
